Independent VW Garage Near Guildford?

My wife's Polo is up for an inspection service. It is only 4 years old and only done 20k miles but the VW dealer in Guildford want to charge £400 and were even suggesting the cam belt 'should be considered for replacement' for a further £350!

Can anyone recommend an independent VW garage who will do servicing for a reasonable rate?

I used to used to use Farnborough Volkswagen Centre in ... Farnborough for my Corrado. They generally concentrate on older stuff but may be able to help.

I don't know how VW dealers stay in business... My local wanted £700 for a main service on my 10 year old Passat (now sold), but a local Indy did it for £300! New aircon fan: VW dealer £450 estimated and Indy did it for £150'ish using a brand new identical Skoda part!

Anyway, only Indy I know is Mill Rd Garage in Caversham, Reading.

We use Witley Station Garage/next to train station (oddly) they are VW/Audi specialist. They are a member of the Goodgarage scheme. They have donr a few things on Audi A2 and works has been to high standard.

Vote here for Kingfisher cars in Guildford - they look after our Golf and do a fine job of it. Much better labour rates than the main dealers too.

I just had my cambelt and water pump done on the Octy VRS at ST Engineering in Haslemere - independent garage, but a VAG specialist. Also sorted a slight boost leak problem at the same time, all for £345, which I though was spot on!

Always go to them, very good service, and labour rates are v reasonable.
