Group C cars return to Le Mans in 2012
Discussion
Not sure if it's been mentioned yet but just spotted this on AOL:
"Sportscar fans are in for a treat next year when the Le Mans circuit will once again echo to the sounds of the Group C era."
"As one of the support events, Group C cars will line up for a two-hour race on the Saturday (16 June) ahead of the 24 Hours with a grid that could include historic gems such as Spice, Sauber Mercedes, Nissan and Porsche."
Should be good!

Historic Group C races never fail to thrill!
Was totally amazing to see them at Silverstone Classic late July when they were the last race on Saturday evening.....Was just like being at Le Mans back in the day...Sun setting, lights on and Sauber, Nissan etc thundering round the circuit. Magic!

Was at Spa back in May, and seeing the Group C cars come barrelling through Eau Rouge was something else !!
Interesting in that vid how flexible the engine is, and how relatively infrequently they had to change gear as a result.
If it is anything like the last Group C race at Le Mans on the Saturday it will be a farce. The majority of the cars wqere touring, some did a few laps and retired, and it was Justin Law and one other I can't remember who actually raced. I mean, being lapped in a 45 minute race on an eight mile long circuit? Might as well go out in a 2CV.

Partly agree, but I seem to remember there were a couple of hard driven cars and some close racing until one of them conked out - can't honestly remember which one. Just the sight and sound of the group C cars does it for me but yes Lowdrag, some closer racing would be the icing on the cake.Gassing Station | Le Mans | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff

Forget 24 hours - 24 minutes is often a major obstacle...
