Pads - um, have I missed something in the market place?
Discussion
All,
the 450 has been running with Red Dot front pads for a few years now (not the same set!). However, I've now run out of spares and trying to find the current ones online seems to make me think that Red Dot either don't exist any longer and I've missed something in the market news etc or I'm just being useless!
The current pads are, according to the code on the back of them XF 9003 (XF being the fast road / light competition range).
Any ideas?

If I could find what the Red Dot 9003 was equivalent too, I could tell you that!
I haven't managed to find a listing for the pad to be able to find whether it's a standard shape pad or not. If all else fails, it will be a call to Hi-Spec but I'll have to check the caliper model first.

now even more confused. I've had a wheel off and the calipers say they're "Billet 4" - however, checking Hi-Spec's website, the pads for the Billet 4 are nothing like those I have! They're much more like the ones shown for the Monster 4
Billet 4 here, with those volvo pads. But there are two 'versions' out there it seems. Mine is the 'old' version, could be you have the new modern one. Thought the pads are the same, just the caliper. Hispec should be able to help, but different experiences of their customer service when you read posts discussing them .... Rob
Spoke to HiSpec today. Quite helpful. Supposedly all of their old calipers were marked as Billet 4 (due to being billet aluminium and 4 piston) but as they said, it got a bit confusing when they started doing lots of different patterns. So, mine almost certainly are Monster 4 which should have same pads as the Cerbera. I'll pop to motor factors and try to match them that way.
Also spoke to RedDot today who confirmed that they've discontinued the XF9003
So, I now have the choice to go with :
Ferodo DS2500 (FRP216H) - £120ish
Mintex 1155 (MDB1292) - £95ish
Pagid RS4 Blue (E1361) - £175ish <cough splutter>
Thoughts? The Pagid are too expensive so it really comes down to between the Ferodo and Mintex. Any opinions based on track use?

Always makes me
and
at the same time, the term 'billet aluminium'... as though it's some kind of magic metal. It's not, it just means that a CNC machine turned a chunk of cast alloy into a part, as opposed to the molten alloy being poured into a mould to make the same part.Same as the use of 'CNC machined' to imply some wondrous doings in the factory. Men were making parts with the same accuracy as CNC machines decades before they were invented, so what you're paying for is the few seconds it takes a machine to make the part instead of several hours for a real human being to do it. Whoopee-doo.

Try Mintex F4R? For quick track stuff I suspect 1155 will let you down. 1166 is a better pad and still has good grip and feel from cold. So, I now have the choice to go with :

Paul,
I'd guess it's the 5004W50T17 you list for 6pot Hi-Spec as the Monster 4 pot and Monster 6 pot have the same pads. The equivalent in Mintex and Ferodo are listed below anyway so if you can confirm the 5004 pad is your equivalent, I can add it to my list of options.
Cheers
FRP216 is 5004w50t17, in stock in RC5 and RC6.I'd guess it's the 5004W50T17 you list for 6pot Hi-Spec as the Monster 4 pot and Monster 6 pot have the same pads. I run this pad in my Cerbera in RC5+ and its pretty handy!
