Yes, I'm part of the organising team, we've been running weekend regularity events in France for 12 years. The next one is the Beaujolais Rally at the end of Nov in the Le Touquet area. Traditionally we get a big entry from the Pre War crowd for this one.
The sections will be a mix of Tulips, Jogularities and Marked Maps.
If you go here you'll find pix from earlier events.

A large number of our entrants use our events to hone their skills, we used to be called the HRCR Beginners series, but standards are now quite high. At the end of last Saturday, the leaders had dropped 0 seconds after about 90 competitive miles. This was to change on Sunday when we made it much tougher for them.
Although we prefer classic cars, we will allow a modern so that people can try a regularity event before committing themselves.

This looks fun, do you need any special preperation, Halda etc, or will a standard classic be in with a chance with good navigation? Any insurance problems?
Very tempted by your April event, are entries open for some time?

Entries - they're open until we fill the Hotel, which means 45 / 50 cars. Next years events aren't formulated yet, but it'll probably start with Honfleur in April. Last weekend's Champagne Rally had about 5 crews on their first ever regularity event. Next month's Beaujolais Rally around Le Touquet always attracts the Vintage crowd, lovely Bentleys and Alvis's etc. Last year we were hit by the freak snowstorm you might remember in late Nov, that was fun for those with no soft-top !
We get entries from Holland / Germany / France, but it's mainly Brits. Generally one crosses from Dover on Sat 9:00am and the event starts around lunchtime with 2 regularities and Sunday we have 4, then a meal/party in the Hotel and return home Monday. You'll do about 170 miles competitive miles.
Preparation :- an accurate trip meter, usually a Brantz or Terratrip, makes life easier but isn't absolutely necessary so long as the car odometer is reasonably accurate. We try to make the navigation fairly easy, it's the timing that's the difficult part.
There should be no need to do anything special to the car, we don't use rough tracks and there are no high speed sections, 30 mph is the fastest average speed we use. We don't have Special Tests, as they can be hard on the car and we want to avoid breakdowns abroad. If you look through my pix, you can see the type of roads we use. Our events are to the same format that was common in the '50's.
Insurance - It would be wise to tell your Ins Co what you're up to.
Our aim is to make the weekend enjoyable by visiting attractive places yet have a competitive element. On last weekends Champagne Rally 10% of the entry were people who started their rallying with us 12 years ago, Many had just come back from the Croatia Rally, a big 5 day event a week before.
I love to see the entry lists on the big 5 day 'glamour' events and see how many started with Classic Rally Tours. I also like to see the Results to see how many people who started with us finish in the top 10. Our biggest 'stars' are Mark and Sue Godfrey in their MGB who seem to be the ones to beat all over Eu these days.
I hope I've answered your questions anything else you want to know, just ask.

I think you'll be seeing me and my old Citroen on one of your rallies next year - sounds like a terrific couple of days and you attract some rather tasty metal too.
Out of interest what would you say are the Big 5? Monte, London-Lisboa, LeJog etc?
Ben
I saw your DS, we have 2 Dutch lads who have 2 fabulously prepared cars, this is one of them.Out of interest what would you say are the Big 5? Monte, London-Lisboa, LeJog etc?

Big 5, I'd say your right, the Marathon and the Three Castles in June in N. Wales are also well regarded. Another is the Costa Brava Rally in early spring that many enjoy. I work on the Three Castles every year, and Le Jog, but have not done any of the others abroad apart from Classic Rally Tours. Are you an HRCR member ?

Yes, I'm an HRCR member but only recently since around June.
I saw that blue DS. The dutch registered early white frog eye DS with the fancy rally dash looks great too, very rare.
Am I right is saying you've not done many regularity rallies ?I saw that blue DS. The dutch registered early white frog eye DS with the fancy rally dash looks great too, very rare.
HRCR are running a new series called 'Easilarity' events, the first one was a couple of weeks ago with Loughborough Car Club and are run in daytime. It might be worth checking those out with your local area, which one are you? I go to Northants and Beds.
