0-60 4.5 seconds a carrera 4s

I might be looking at the wrong sites but the chimaera lists speeds at 0 to 60 mph: 5.1 seconds?

I used to have a C4S one of the better cars I have had - I was blown away at the lights by a number of cars including saxo's, I might not have been trying though

5.1 sec. was TVRs advertised 0-60 for a 4 litre. 4.7 sec. for a 4.5 litre and 4.1 sec. for a 5 litre.
They were supposed to have actually had a 340hp 5 litre engine that produced that figure...
I have always believed, though never gone out to prove, that a well tuned original 5 litre with tyres more appropriate to drag racing could actually beat that 4.1 quite easily.

Chilli claims "354 bhp and 334 lbft." for his car based on rolling road tests, so assuming decent tyres... IMO; easy peasy smile

Mine will do 0-60's in quite a bit less but it is getting it to do it consistently - it will pretty much always do sub 4seconds though. A C4s will do its 0-60 pretty much every time with 4WD helping it all the way - a chimaera has a lot more issues to get power down even if you are Derick with NOS at hand but he adds this when traction is available.

I have never seen on the porsche forum posts saying that they have beat a chimaera etc Please do not think I am takign anything aay from anyone but the only way you know you have beat someone is to do it on a track, strip etc and you both know you are actually racing.

Agreed, consistency was/is always the issue with a high powered Chimaera or Griffith.
I know exactly what you mean there and fully agree, only a track race can confirm the absolute truth of which is actually quickest.
On the other hand, the street is the street. What happens there is valid in it's own right.

'Back in the day' when mine was new, I was challenged by just about anything and everything with four wheels and, wet days aside, I always believed it would be rude to refuse biggrin
For what it's worth, I was never bettered by anything. Not even once. I make no claims to be a good drag racer. All my previous experience was with slush-boxes, albeit highly modified slush-boxes, and gear changing skill was never the issue then.

Referring to your earlier comment about "saxos", I did have one or two surprises from cars that managed to get half a nose ahead in the first 10m yikes but as it never lasted to the second 10m I always put that down to them getting a better launch, and me getting a bad one.

I totally agree with the above. However I am also virtually incapable of moving over to let a 911 pass that likes sitting 6 feet off my rear at 60mph. Apologies if it sounded like a boast, it wasn't meant to be getmecoat

Maybe he was just trying to get a closer look at my new PH sticker scratchchin

ps, Goaty Bill, those RR figures were before the remap wink

I can only speak from personal experience,

straight line a good standard 500 is quicker than a 997 C4S to 150mph, that was with both drivers going for it at Vmax.

I was thinking about that earlier today thinking I am sure they are doing something soon. I am doing a 12 hour race in a couple of weeks if all is ready on the race car then I will make sure I come along.
