Ok Ive recently bought a tuscan. This morning I thought I'd take it out and get it up to temperature so I could play about trying to get it into reverse (another problem in the making..). Un-beknown to me when I pulled up opposite my drive there was water p!ssing out from under the car. I even left it momentarily on the drive whilst I opened the garage door spin

I reverse it in and the thing is torrenting water on the near side!

Whipped the bonnet off and what would you know...

The clip between the bottom rad hose and the oil cooler had given up. The moment I touched it the above happened. Did TVR use anciliaries from the pound shop lol.

It was pretty dam lucky this happened on my drive! This car had been serviced by numerous "well known" specialists. I guess they work on the premis "if it aint bust dont fix it".

Anyway Im going to replace all jubilee clips with stainless. My biggest quandry though is what to replace the bottom pipe with! Do I go for a silicon replacement or athe rubber original. The pipe seems to have developed slack around its entrance. On a thread which is running at the mo there is mixed reactions to silicone, and alarming stories of them popping off and leaking.

Any opinions.. silicone or stick with the original fitment???

I replaced the hoses on my G33 with Silicone and had no issues at all.

I had to tighten one end of the bottom hose once, the rest were fine.

Common problem with many cars, not just Tivs, seems to be arround the 10 year old mark. My Volvo did exactly the same, just replaced the lot with stainless ones.

Honestly iv had 5 GTI,s a Porsche, a tt and discovery and have never had a jubilee clip expire on me.

I think its more likely to do with the positioning of the hose to the cooler to the front ns wheel. Which will spit up all sorts.

after 10 years it is better to replace the clamps AND the hoses. The epdm rubber hoses will leak also soon.
