hello,

firsly i have to start by saying i know nothing about cars (and it seems neither does the AA man that tried to help me!)

I have an Alfa Romeo 147 Twin Spark. A few days back my battery ran completely flat. I managaed to get someone to give me a jump start, except it did not work and the dash message 'IMMOBILISER FAILURE' started to flash. I had an electrical diagnostic test performed on the car, which did not show any specific problems?

I called the AA which ran a few tests etc, we finally got round to getting a temporary key code as it turns out that the key had been scrambled by improper starting on the engine. We must have input the code 30 times, with no success amd even a fully charged battery will drain within a few attempts at getting the engine started.

Please help! I wish to sell the car, but would like to be able to know what is wrong with it?!

cheers

Mine did this once a few years ago. The other key started it with no problems. It never happened again.

Thanks for the reply mate. I've tried both keys. Tried the code another 5 times this morning with no success. Out of around 30 attempts at getting the code to work, it did actually work once (the sequence worked) but the the engine did no start? Alfas huh!

The AA tried a new battery then tried the key code again, which did not work.

Spares and repairs time maybe?!
