Hi,

Anybody got any views on the best way to fit winter tyres to a 156 GTA SW.

My current thinking is to buy a new set of aftermarket 16" alloys (I have the 305mm brakes, but definitely don't want to discuss that topic here!) and then buy winter tyres to fit. I only plan to keep them fitted for the really bad weather - which I'm sure we'll have - and then I'll store them in my garage until next winter.

So, three questions really. Where should I buy my 16" alloys? As far as I can tell I need 6.5J*16", 98*5 PCD and and offset of between 35mm - 40mm (I'd really like to stay with a totally standard offset, if I knew what it was). 2nd question, which winter tyres? I need 205/55 R16 91W.

3rd question - is there a better way to do this?

Thanks

Are you an Alfa Owner member?

I am sure there are discussion topics in the GTA lounge on this - There is one member with a GTA SW who has 16" wheels and winter tyres. I am sure he bought the rims from ebay which is probably your best bet.

305s will give you more options - A set of decent pads and these are fine anyway although I upgraded to 330s :-)

Here is a tidy set finishing in next few hours - http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/16-Genuine-Alfa-Romeo-15...

I got a pair of pirelli sotto zero's (225/45/17) for 80 off the local part worn tyres place last year. They were absolutely brilliant in the snow.

Offset (ET) is 35mm for the 156 GTA.

Possibly.....

Buy it and sell it again in spring, probably at no loss.
