Having a problem with the fuel return line sucking fuel out of the carb and filter when engine turned off and left for a while. this leads to poor starting when cold and left say over night.

when i got home today i clamped off the return line and fuel stayed in the carb and filter.

Question do i need the return line or do i just black it all off

Car is Ginetta fitted with 2.1 pinto with 32/36 dgav mild road cam etc. So not too tuned up.

Standard fuel pump with is mechanical so will fuel pressure make carb flood without it?

I see some cars fitted others not with return line.

IMHO it depends on quite a few other factors, type of carb and the unregulated fuel pressure being the ones I'd be most concerned about
