After watching the great coverage from bangshift.com all weekend of the Hot rod reunion, its really got me in the mood for going over to watch the march meet next year. Has anybody been before to watch any of these huge nostalgia events?, they look truely awesome and defo not to be missed. Is anybody planning on going over next year to watch it?, is the event bigger than the hot rod reunion? any tips and advice greatly appreciated, thanks

Fuzzie

I did the reunion last year, definitely the best meeting I've ever watched. No crap, all interesting well run classes. My only difficulty was deciding what to miss in order to walk round the pits! Met some friends from the internet and some legends of the sport AND got to see the Wing's infamous overtaking burnout in person. 100% going back next year.

I flew from Heathrow to San Francisco spent a few days there a got a greyhound down to Bakersfield. As for hotels I can recommend the Best Western in Bakersfield. Also worth seeing that you might not know about is the Cacklefest at the Double Tree hotel on Friday night, standing 2ft from Tom
Hanna's cackler, wow biggrin

The new concrete surface laid over last winter is immense, Tony Bartone 5.56 and 269mph in NFD, John Hale in Mike Burkhart's Camaro NFC 5.58 are stunning times! How about 6.24 in an a/fuel slingshot as well .

Anyways I'm rambling, go, you won't regret it. I'd rather go there than a big show NHRA event.....

Didnt know bout the cacklefest that sounds awesome I know bout the one they have at the track. Followed the covergae all weekend track seems pretty killer now and no doubt in march will be a little cooler so could see some even better numbers. Any negatives then bout the place? seems like its in the back of beyond a little. Any1 paid for the VIP option at all?.

Nice clips enjoyed them. Where bouts did you stay? only thing slightly putting me off is the weather seems a litle iffy early march!

I stayed with some American friends who help me out with lodgings. Theres one or two Motel 6s in Bakersfield. Book well in advance as the place gets packed especially at the CHRR event. The tracks in the middle of farmland surrounded by fruit. I advise you to take your own food preferably from walmart although they have food stands there but quite limited.

Just read on the UKdrn site Poverty Stricken NFC run a 5.55 in IHRA. And its an old chevy vega. WOW. Do they run the same rules as what they run in the Heritage series?
