C.A.R.S. - new uber racing sim
Discussion
Anyone who idolised Geoff Crammond, loved Grand Prix Legends or loves proper sim racing will want to see this. Slightly Mad Studios (of Need for Speed: Shift/Shift 2 fame) have started work on C.A.R.S. (Community Assisted Racing Sim), it's only in pre-alpha but it's... well, check out this '67 Lotus, it'll blow your socks off.

There are more pics and info at the World of Mass Development landing page, where this project is being coordinated: http://www.wmdportal.com/projects/cars/. Basically SMS are developing this game but are putting all design decisions in the hands of the project shareholders, which you can become for varying fees - the more you pay the more say you have over the sim's direction. Shareholders also get weekly beta's to test, and the online multiplayer already looks astonishing:

As I mentioned it's only a pre-beta at the moment with a release date pencilled in for late 2012, but the graphics already look astonishing, and the audio is if anything even better: the piercing howl from the Lotus-alike's DFV is hair-raising. Anyone who followed the West brothers ten years ago when they were pushing their concept of an ultra-realistic sim will love this, the physics are clearly right up there and this could be something properly special.

Haha great!
There are quite a few vids on YouTube though obviously finding them is difficult as it's such a generic name, if this vid doesn't get your juices flowing nothing will. Listen out for the tyre squeal, this thing must be a joy to drive!

Trouble is it still drives like Shift2 which isn't a good thing.
iRacing is still better, for now. If SM sort CARS out (or rfactor 2 ever comes out) it might get knocked off its perch.
It does look fantastic, though.
Edit: And I'm a £25 member, so my opinion isn't just fanboyism
