I currently have an ACT rear box and am considering a set of de-cats from ACT but would ideally like to hear the same set up beforehand, as such does anyone reside near to Cambs, Beds, Herts that has this set up on their T350 or Tamora? It's a weekend toy so noise is a huge part of the fun, along with flames evil and I already have a de-cat chip installed.
This is a gift to myself to cheer me up as part of me's regretting not swapping to the black 355 Castle have just sold and I had done (and then backed out of) a deal on only a week ago.

Also, am I likely to lose/gain any power from fitting these and just how much of a difference am I likely to see with in-cabin temps?

Hi Zip,

I have a de-catted big bore exhaust system.

When I bought the car the exhaust was totally standard. It sounded lovely but wanted some more noise so got it de-catted.

This alone made a big difference, some good some made. The in cabin temp dropped quite a lot but the noise above 3k revs was really "droney", it gave me a headache at mway speeds.

So I decided to get the ACT big bore system fitted. This was so much better, the noise has a much deeper bass to it.

It was pops and bangs a lot more than it used to. Not sure if it flames though as I can't see it.

HTH?

Thanks Cliff.
I thought sod it and got off the phone with Tim at ACT 10 minutes ago.
I've heard 350s with just de-cats and they sound terribly raspy, not a nice noise at all. However, as I have the JP rear box already fitted (not the same one as you) I'm hoping this will dial out the raspiness you get with decats alone. I'm aware it will be extremely loud but as it's a weekend toy who cares smile
Do you have the decats still in with yours? Would be interesting to compare at some point or other the difference the big bore system makes against the noisy one.

Mine is decatted (NTELS Decats) with a JP Sports Back Box. There is no raspiness at all....none, but be warned it is very very noisy especially when you hit the loud pedal; plus massive pops and bangs on the over run, and flames also.

It will most likely fail its MOT also due to the following:

001. Exhaust noise is clearly in excess of that emitted by a similar vehicle fitted with a standard silncer in average condition [7.1.2b]

002. (cats missing) Exhaust has a part missing [7.1.1a]

It's likey to fail on emmissions also.

Cheers. BB.

Yes it was very raspy when I just had de-cats, at first you don't care as it's a louder noise, but it soon grates.

So I opted to pay the extra to have the full system instead of just the back box.

I'm told this set up is quiet enough to get on track-days and also releases a few more horses.

Yes, I still have the de-cats in, I'm really happy with the sound now, nice deep burble at idle and loud as feck when you want it to be loud i.e. above 3k revs smile

I'll worry about that next year - MOT doesn't run out until 15th October.
As for the noise, as mentioned it's a weekend toy so I'm not overly fussed. Half the pleasure of ownership is the noise they make.
