Where can I find one: does anyone have any ideas? Ive scoured eBay without any positive result, which has me doubting that everyone describes the item as I have...

Its a (usually hard plastic) base which has a hinged arm onto which the hand grinder is fastened. You turn the tool on manually and then operate the arm via an extended handle - essentially converting a hand grinder into a simple metal chop saw.

Posted here as Im workin on my car, cutting plates for a seat mount, so it isnt 'Home, Garden & DIY' and there isnt a 'Preparing My Car' forum...

I can picture what you want but cant say i've ever actually seen one! Chop saws are relatively inexpensive these days- might be easier to just buy the whole caboodle?

Spot on! Id looked through a MM catalogue too.

The only place that I could recall seeing one even remotely recently, was on the flyer board outside a Lidl or Aldi store; but I havent seen one since.

Are you trying to home bodge one of those Rogering machines that seem to be the subject matter of certain genre videos scattered liberally around the internet?

Surely thatd work better using a reciprocating saw (and a 12 rubber cock)?
