Random car parked and not moved on street for weeks

So theres an Audi TT been parked opposite my house for a few weeks now, hasnt moved that I've seen in that time, dont recall seeing it before. I started to joke with the other half that it was nicked and they'd parked it there to see if it was tracked etc, but starting to think there really could be something suspect about it.

Is there any protocol to find out if its been nicked or anything? I've googled stolen car databases and put in the reg but doesnt come up with anything, don't think its got to the stage of ringing the police, and I wouldnt have thought they'd want to do anything anyway.

There probably is some legal and logical explanation, but it seems like its been too long for someone to be on holiday, or staying with friends/relatives nearby without it moving. Only thing we can think of is if the owner has gone travelling for an extended period of time, but seems like a silly place to park it, and if they have then they dont live nearby because I've never seen it before.
