Maresfield is a rather interesting place (It's where I get my tyres from).
So many places a traffic collision can happen.
--edit--
Google maps proving a point.

If you take a 180 turn, and go back down the road the Googlevan has just come up, you run into whats known as School Hill...slippery when wet, under tree cover, up/down hill, poor visibility and with three speed restricting "islands" in a few hundred yards...loads of near misses by people just trying to make the gap...and on the "old" A272 bike route...BTW and purely for local knowledge/general info, the 800 series is turning (poorly) into the car park entrance for Wheelers at the Chequers - a Marco Pierre White establishment...BF

Yes, and it was at the lower speed island before the roundabout where the collision occured.
Over the years since these speed islands have been installed there have been numerous collisions as 2 of the 3 are located after bends in the road, and if you don't know they are there you are suddenly confronted with an island in your path or a vehicle on your side of the road
The near misses I have seen have all been due to misjudgement of distance.
Condolences to the bikers family
