Myself & the current Mrs Porkanut are hoping to go to the Mille Miglia next year on an organised driving holiday

Have seen a few different companies & wondered if anyone had first hand experience of Grandstand Motorsports, Classic Car Tours or Classic Grand touring?

many thanks

I followed it a few years ago but booked all the stuff myself. With Google maps, you can find some great hotels so I'd say do it yourself and save some money!

Did it with Grandstand last year. 10 day tour. Problem is with them - you ar emoving betweenhotels every day, with one exception where you get two nights. The hotels are great, but realistically you never get to see the MM due to all the travelling. We saw the start in Brescia, which was the only place we stayed two nights. The only other chance to actually see the race was over the Futa and Rata passes, but to hang around long enough to see the cars would have meant a VERY QUICK dash to get to the next hotel in time for dinner. We were both in quick cars, but we both had our other halves with us, which tends to spoil the fun when the screams are louder than the exhaust.

If I did it again, I would organise my own trip; pick a spot where you really want to watch them go by - Futa pass for instance - book a hotel nearby and stay there.

My wife and I plan to travel to Zeebrugge and the down through Germany via the romantic route, spend a couple of days near Lake Constance. We are then making our way across to Gap to meet up with 3 other couples as we make our way to Menton in time to watch the Historic GP at Monaco. Following this we will probably split up as we are then off to Brescia to watch the gathering and the start of the Mille Miglia.

The next day we will head north so as to catch the evening sailing from Zeebrugge to Hull.

I have booked thferries and the hotel in Menton is booked but as yet the other details are to be confirmed

It was back in he 80's so I really can't remember the hotels. We did stay at the top of the Raticosa pass which was cold but great for the views!
