Have you got 7" headlights John?

Smoked lenses look fab but with the pathetic 5" lights I do wonder if they make the already pathetic headlights even worse.

Yes I do... Try this one,, it may be better as its got the 5" unit in it...

.

I dont think it changes the output much... there is very little tint realy...
The main advantage of the 7" units is getting your hi-beam 6" further up into the pods.... Its like a normal car laugh

I have the pathetic 5" lights and smoked lenses and from what I've seen in comparison the smoking makes little difference to the light output but they do make the front end look better.

Hi there, how difficult is it to change to 7" light units? Also what units would you recommend? Many thanks, Pete

Biggish project as you really need new pods to do the job properly and of course the bigger lights. Sportmotive do a kit

Out of interest, TVR Beaver, your driving lights are tiny, compared to the standard griff ones. What are you using, did the grille need modifying and is the road illumination they provide any good?

Hi.. I used two Ring driving lights and made a special Aluminium housing for them.. they mount and adjust just like the normal lights... I have my Hi-beam and Low beam in the pods now... The lower light come on with the Hi-beam and add to the ilumination but the problem with them is, their position is too low down (as the orig hi-beams).. they do add to the short distance illumination but not too much the long distance.. the Hi-beams in the pods are more than capable of doing this themselves yes
TBH i just changed them as I thought the std low down lights with the 7" units looked a bit heavy on the front... also I like to be a bit differant but with things that can be reversed to be put back to std if required...
I have some pictures of them at home... I'll dig them out tonight and post them.. biggrin

Since the conversion do you have any heat issues in the pods, or is it OK?

No.. why would you?... its only like having the dip beam on all the time.. when you go to hi-beam.. the dip goes off... don't think the hi-beam is any more powerful... just points in a different direction... no problems,,,

Good to hear, I remember reading a comment somewhere many moons ago that the driving lights were not in the pods because of heat, which I didn't really get when I read it either.

On the original set up, the bip-beam stays on when the Hi-beam is used... my be they were thinking this was true of the 7" set up?... but its not... only 1 set on at a time...

I believe the colour is Starmist Green, code is P422 4YP9B. In typical TVR style, I've been told there were actually two Startmist Greens with this code. My car is in the later version. Does look good with smoked lenses though.
