Evening all,

Quick question to anyone in the know. What age to cars have to be before they can fall under classic car insurance and can they be covered for business use?

A bit of context, inspired by the £1-5k smoker thread, I'm thinking of getting a Lexus LS400 or Merc S-Class (W140). Annual mileage is about 7k a year, mixed business and personal. Just wondering how feasible this is on classic car cover.

Cheers

Usually 15 years but it can vary. Not sure about business use and it normally has to be a second car.

There's no fixed answer: you'll just need to phone around and see what you can get. Different underwriters have different criteria.

That said, most classic policies are based on mileage up to 5k and require it to be a second car. 7k will be more than most allow. But again, you'll just have to phone round and ask.

As above, plus most limit mileage to a maximum of 5000.
