My brother-in-law text me this morning asking if he could have our Sky username and password so he could "piggyback" our account on his XBox and watch, presumably, our channels.

What exactly does this mean? Is it likely to affect us/our subscription in any way?

just means he can watch some channels (depending on your package) via xbox, like the sky player website. i did it when my parents had the sport and movies so could watch on demand films and the football live.

Those would be the login details that give him access to your entire Sky account including billing details then and also allow him to register all of his devices to Sky Player?

Yes.

I'm not over the moon about it to be honest. In fact I think it's fking cheeky.

I think you can only register a few devices at any one time, you should have said you'd used them all. So basically you're paying £x every month for sky and he'll now benefit from it. I hope you don't use the same login details elsewhere!

You used to be able to setup additional accounts under the master one for this purpose, it's years since I did it but might be an avenue worth wandering down before you give him the option to spend all your money and upgrade your package.

Oh, don't get me wrong, I'm not at all worried about him having access to the account details. Just a little annoyed at paying £50 a month for Sky so he can have it free!

It's a worth question to him -he doesn't think it's worth the £50 per month to subscribe to Sky, but is OK with the Xbox Live subscription.

In your place, I'd be tempted to register two devices of your own quick smart, so he's got one slot only, and can't pass your details around.

It's simple, give him the password then after a week change it.

When it stops working feign ignorance, it must be a technical problem with his XBOX. Sky won't give him any info as he's not the account holder smile
