Here's one for you all, just needing some advice on what to do next!

My car (which has been written off once before) has been brought back onto the road and somebody has run into the back of it again and its been deemed irreparable once again, my insurance are quoting it £1000 less to write it off than the actual value saying the mileage is not 7000miles but is assumed to have clocked once and should be 107000miles. However the dealer I bought it from had it MOT'd @3553 miles and the cars mileage is genuine, as this year i've had it mot'd @7372 miles.

What there trying to say is that a car of this reg (2002) cannot possibly be this low mileage.

Any ideas how I can prove this to them as i'm loosing out on loads of money here for it not being my fault.

I've sent them copies of the MOT's and there saying that isn't enough, I need to prove it by providing a service history, I don't have this for a car that has done 7000 miles since new.

What could I do next to get out of this one? Insurance obviously don't want to payout as much.

Help would be appreciated

Speak to someone more senior and provide purchase invoice. Failing that suggest accept payment as an interim payment and ask complaints for complaints procedure and follow that if still not satisfied the contact FOS

Are you able to get the Mot history online?
http://motinfo.direct.gov.uk/internet/jsp/ECHID-In...

It should go back several years, and you will be able to see what the mileage was at each MOT.
Obviously assuming you haven't already got copies.

I would have thought that if you could show the mileage was only increasing by 1k miles a year or whatever it would show that it hasn't just lost 100k miles.

What car is it by the way?

Its a nissan Micra. Everyones suprised as to how clean and fresh the car still is, i've tried checking the MOT's on the DVLA site but its only showing two, maybe because it was shipped over from Ireland.

Oh forgot to tell yous about that! yup its got an irish plate!

So I should get a puchase order from the place i bought it from or speak to a senior?

You should be able to get the NCT tests from Ireland.

Pop over to octane.ie and ask there. They are a very helpful bunch.

Ohhh forgot ot ask is it Northern Ireland or Republic of Ireland. If the former you can get the MOT details from DVANI.

Typical problem of arguing with your own insurance drink
Why arent you arguing direct with the third party and providing examples of equivalent vehicles less a bit for haggling?
Or is that the figure theyve arrived at?

Ok i've posted a question on octane.ie , I've filled out a complaint for ageas Insurance and now playing the waiting game. The car was a CAT i'm thinking. Doesnt show on the log book as it was from Northern Ireland and it gets changed when enters in this country

With no MoT history and a grey import you're going to be struggling I reckon.

Irish, or Northern Irish? There's a difference.

Grandpa's Mazda 323 was sold 8 year old with 1200 miles on the clock, full service history (one year had 26 miles between services). He got it new and basically stopped driving shortly afterwards when Gran died - he never needed to go out much on his own.

Therefore, OP's insurance company are retards.

I disagree, the company want to ensure they are paying the correct market value. If someone offered you a super low mileage 2002 car with only 2 MOT's that back up the miles would you buy it?
I wouldn't and would need more convincing (like proper service history as that dosen't solely rely on mileage)

Cheers for the help everyone. Got it sorted. Filled out a complaint through their website threatening them with the ombudsmen and 2 hours later I got a call with a full value of the car. I've had it all emailed to me and going to send paperwork tomorrow. Now whose got a small low mileage car for sale?
