Is it Foggy? Well is it?

What a good do...I'm more than pleased...As on 90% of occasions I ticket the offenders.
It dazzles and causes discomfort to other road users and looks 'shit', if you ask me.
One good way to determine if the optional lamps on the front of your vehicle are in fact 'fog light'; there'll be a 'B' stamped on the outer lens somewhere next to the EEC markings.

Pet hate of just about everyone on here: Turn em off, it makes you look like a nob!
I agree,, I hate these always on foglamps, because of the type of car I drive, I sit lower than a 'conventional' car (as do quite a few others on here), and headlights on dip coming the other way are just about ok, but the foglights dazzle to such an extent that I have to almost come to a stop until the car with foglamps blazing away coming towards me has passed! It is, however, just as bad when we get an idiot up our backside with all lights blazing too, presumably thinking that they can outrun a 350BHP TVR in their 1.6i, needless to say, I rarely rise to the bait, (value my license, life, NCP, but not necessarily in that order!)
I don't think I have had one occasion in my car where foglamps were needed!

The bollocks excuses I hear like:
"It was foggy earlier"
"My wife must have left them on"
"It's a new car"
"I must have knocked them with my hand/knee"
"Aren't they driving lights?"
NO...it's your car...you're driving it and you should know how to use every auxilary switch and whether or not the damn things are on. I mean if the driver's wife had left the car in reverse gear on the drive, would he have ploughed through the lounge window?
It's suprising how nobody ever has the rear fog lights on. Why? Because it's not chaving trendy, is it?
Funny how £30 fixed penalty seems to remind people of their duty to other drivers' retinas in future..

It's suprising how even in my force, I often have to justify my actions to the gaffers.
The gaffers see the ticketing of 'normal people' for front fog lights in clear conditions as turning the public opinion against the police.
However, I take the view that road safety is more important than winning votes. We're the police not the Independant Party, for Christ's sake.
Also, it's surprising how many people with criminal records and points encrusted licences drive with stuff like front fog lights on. I've found that if people don't give a shit about things like front fog lights, they don't give a shit about other laws.
A recent survey found that 80% of people wrongly using disabled bays at a supermarket, were found to have criminal records. That's not stereotyping, that fact, my friends..

Point the gaffers at this forum, then - it'd show them that the biggest thing that turns public opinion against the police is scameras, and that ticketing foglight numpties is a popular move!
