With MW3 due out any day, a bunch of friends have decided we should celebrate the day with a massive system link game.

I've played Black Ops a few times, and I suck! Really, really suck frown

I need a training regime that will help me get reasonably proficient, very quickly.

I would like to wipe the smile off the face of one particular chap, who endlessly goes on about wiping the floor with me! If nothing else, being able to pick him off from miles away would be a start hehe

Thanks PH...

I only have Black Ops to practice with, so just general FPS tips really smile

tell them to pick hardcore for a start. Then choose your perks to suit your stratergy.

I find the one that removes you from the radar is a god send. My primary method of finding victims is the radar.

Everyone sucks to start with, basically you need to choose your perks carefully, in your situation I would go for Ghost-(you wont show up as a dot on their map)
Sleight of Hand-(reload quicker and aims gun quicker)
Second chance-(gives you a chance for revenge)
Choose a gun like the Famas or AK74, light enough to run with, accurate and quick to aim, equip with a suppressor so they cant hear your shots.
Good luck smile

The only tip I'd say is don't get too worked up with all the details such as perks etc etc until you really know what you're doing, what kind of player you are etc.

The only tip you need to know right now is practice, practice and practice.

You will get much better the longer you play!

Although saying that, some people are naturally very good at games like this and obviously some people are naturally awful!

learn the maps also. all of them have bottle neck points which if you cover your bound to get kills.

As above, learn the maps & pick a decent weapon. Galil with silencer, FAMAS with extended mags or AK47u with rapid fire are my fail safe guns, if you Run & Gun I'd use Sleight of Hand too along with Marathon & Ninja. It's a private match so I'd do the complete opposite as already suggested (to camp), don't camp too much in a private match because it's pretty sad. I wouldn't go for HC either, if your not too familiar with the maps you won't have a clue where your getting picked off from.

Best thing you can do is practice until then. Get to learn the maps properly, so you know where to flank from etc. Also, find out what guns/tactics work for you- that's when you will know which perks you are best suited to.

If you want easy (albeit cheap) kills- use a claymore / motion sensor

black ops has a training mode which is excellent!

put it on veteran and put some time in, if you can win on team death match veteran on combat training then you are good enough for online biggrin

One of the big things is outsmarting them. Learn the maps and learn where they're going to come from. Spawns change, so keep an eye out for that. Always have your back covered (team-mate, claymore, dead end).

It'll all come with practice anyway smile

In addition to what has already been said, how about ranking up more quickly than them so you can use better weapons and perks, get an advantage that way.

I was amused to see that Mountain Dew have a MW3 promotion at the moment:

http://www.rankupxp.com

The most it gives you is 24 hours of double xp time, which fits your bill quite nicely.

At the very least, it'll annoy the piss out of him to see you going up more quickly than him!

No idea if you can get the codes in the UK though.

Wouldn't worry about it; the servers will be for the most part different, plus they'll have drunk 320 cans of caffeinated beverages, so they'll be twitching all over the place.
