I am looking to buy a new car but I would like something that stands out from normal cars and gets people looking. I hate common cars so I need something different. Something made after 1990 would be best. I have about £2000 to spend and I need something with low insurance and low road tax. My only good idea is a Toyota Sera. Does anyone have any other ideas?

Honda CRX. Great little cars, and not very common these days

Good call. Great car, and your budget should get a nice one! (Cracking handling too!)

MX5, MGF - the MR2's a bit steep on insurance.

And as previously suggested the CRX.

If you're eligible for classic insurance, how about a 924?

MX5's and MGF's are way to common but the 924 is quite a good idea.

If insurance is an issue for you, avoid imports because the premium will be loaded for that alone.

How about a decent classic Mini (like Rob suggested ^^^) or maybe an E30 - both lots of fun and easy to maintain etc?

In a previous thread you said you didn't have enough money to go to a motorshow, now you want a fancy car? What gives?

I hate to think what he'll do about unexpected repair bills if he can't pay to go to a car show!!

They're common because they're good, makes them cheap too. Besides they still stand out.

You might get a reasonable 944 for this money too.
