Under a lot of pressure at the moment with work/life in general and, coming along the road (central London) the other night I wasn't watching the road properly and I hit the damn kerb of an island. Broke 1 alloy and set the door and curtain airbag off. ste!

Have now got to begin fixing it. I Have new wheels already and fitted them. The car is driving again but I need to replace the two airbags obviously.

I've read a few threads elsewhere detailing most of what I need to do but have a few Q's if anyone can help....

Should I disconnect the battery before removing them?

Will the car start with them removed? - I'm buying them today but for the next day or two I'd rather not have the damn things hanging in the cockpit!

Also naturally need an alignment, may have bent something on the rear susp....not sure yet I'm getting it checked this afternoon! Luckily am not shy when it comes to repairing the car so I think I can just about handle what seems like quite a lot of doom!

Cheers

Had car checked today, not too bad. Broken (Rear) drop link, lower wishbone (the steel one) bent shock and broken coil spring plus trailing arm moved a bit on it's adjustment.

Got it all from Quarry for not too much. Bloody lucky really!!

Did you not look at the log book when you bought it?

You might get away with new side airbags, and a reset, but if that doesn't work, you'll have to send the airbag module away for crash data removal. It's not too bad, about £30 of reprogramming.

Can't you just push the airbags back in and tank tape over the joint in the trim ?
