Fuel pump wire size

Whats the best size wire to upgrade the wiring to the fuel pump?

From what i've found the maximum current drawn on the fuel pump is around 16amps, this is based on the 044 bosch pump which is an upgrade to the standard ones fitted.

Does 16mm2 seem OTT, although based on the 044 pump

16mm2 is a huge cross sectional area for a fuel pump, Have a look here

A bit of advise on fitting the 044 pump. I just done mine and ideally for the pump to deliver the maximum fuel it needs ideally an 8mm pipe but a minimum of a 6mm pipe will do.

The steel fuel pipe TVR have fitted is OK on mine but what I found was the banjo fittings on the end of the 2 rubber pipes that go from the pump to the fuel filter and the second one from the filter to the fuel pipe had only 4mm holes in them making any pump upgrade worthless. The rubber pipe is the correct size its the fittings on the end that were wrong. (typical TVR quality)

Yours may be OK but definatley check.

2.5mm Sq should be fine, that rinds the ring mains in you house so should more than manage the fuel pump.
