Regardless of the moral aspect, there is some truth in it. Who is going to bother working40 hours a week when you can get the same for doing nothing?

I think that's the point, take away benefits and they have no choice, work or starve.

That chap....'I want to work BUT....if I work I'm only earning a few pounds more and I'd miss watching my kids growing up.....

WTF???

Seriously the benefits should be curtailed for people like him...there's two of them and their obese child should be at school all day...so what's he missing..?

If there's a job he should be forced to work it else his benefits should be cut...

Fecks sake...

I don't know if I can watch anymore.....

People who work need to be paid more - the difference is too marginal for many people.

Alternatively, reduce the value of benefits to make sure the difference between minimum wage work vs a life on benefits is significant.

Actually a mate of mine made far more on benefits than he could earn working in a warehouse...

No. They need to stop being workshy s. Looks like America have got the right idea. Work and you're eligible for benefits. Don't work? fk off lazy.

Although the difference in the US is that if you have worked...and you lose your job, you get very good benefits.

Or just don't taper them away so steeply at the same time as a worker becomes liable for tax and NI.

Once they have no money to put food in their mouths that would soon change.
