WOW!! 35bhp increase
Discussion
If only it was that easy,
I have been fiddling in the garage because I have finished my driveway. Moved the AFM and water bottle around. Not sure if I'll even get 2bhp increase never mind 35bhp more but it looks a lot neater.

Just laid 35t of concrete to level things out, 24 pin curbs and 36 paving slabs. 900x600x50, not those lightweight crappy ones. Borrowed the bobcat for a few weeks of playing in the mud

I noticed under the bonet of your Wedge you seem to have very similar modifications to my Wedge. The remote clutch and brake resevoirs for example and the modified smaller servo unit, also the cooling swirl pot and the blue coolant piping looks similar to what's on mine. I was wondering, did you do these modifications? as my one was on the car when I bought it, or is there some connection? these modifications are quite rare I think, as I have only seen it on yours and mine. Do you also have after market oil pressure guage and temp guage fitted to the drivers side windscreen pilar as on my Wedge? or is it all just a coincidence?

Hoping to do this mod myself shortly. Did you use a bracket for the AFM?
I haven't put a bracket on as yet, as the AFM is so close to the throttle body there is no flex in the connecting pipe. Probably will put one on at some point, a peice of 25x5mm straight down to the inside of the wheel archLean Machine said:

Tony, I meant to have a word with you at this years fest, but with one thing and another I never got around to it. Your car has the same fitments as mine as it was altered by the same person who owned mine a few years ago. AJP are his initials. I tried looking under your front end to see if it had the same nasty weak dangerous mod that mine originally had when I bought it. But I couldn't tell, but seem to remember it has coilovers Y/N ?.
My nearside coilover was pushing through the bottom of the lower arm when I bought it, the offside wasn't much better. The coilovers were only held on by 2 M10 bolts bracketed to the underside of the lower arm. I have stripped out the week s
tty mod and strengthened it a lot better. Edited by TOPTON on Friday 28th October 16:09
Topton. I thought there was some connection between our two cars, seems they were modified by the same guy. I don't know about the condition of my front suspension or the arrangent, but I believe they are coilovers with adjustable shocks. I will check its setup and condition and report back. If anything needs fixing or I see as being dangerous I will get it seen to asap.
Tony.

Where did you get your ally tanks from Jeff?
P.S. Car up & running yet? Off work today so going for a rip around lunch time......
I think they are the ones I supplied, well they look the same as the ones I was getting done.P.S. Car up & running yet? Off work today so going for a rip around lunch time......
Wyn, had the run around with the large diameter pipe so had to wait, seeing as they are the bottom of the tanks I did not want to start until all the bits in, which they are now. The only problem is I cannot find solderable connectors for the pump, the ones supplied are crimo. Seeing as they will live in the muck etc I want a solid job. They do have those tight rubber boots but I do not trust crimped where damp can get in.
Pipe arrived when I was back in work.... sod it.

Have a look under the lower arm. On mine there was a bracket bolted to the thin infill plate on the under side with 2 bolts. This bracket was carrying the whole weight of the front end via the 2 10mm bolts. The bolts were starting to push through the infill plate. Tony.
I think on the original setup, the damper was fitted to this plate. That was fine as the spring was a seperate item, but on coilovers they are obviously one item so the mounting point needs to be super strong. Hope you understand because its difficult to explain without pictures.
I butchered mine and fitted this bracket inside the arm, then I welded it back up again leaving access to the coilover lower bolt

That attached to the fibre glass? Mine is to the rocker cover, lot of movement when it starts up?
Good point. As it was attatched to the fibreglass wing originally I thought it would be ok again. Although a lot of the movement may have been taken up by the longer flexi pipe. I will fire it up in the morning and check it out
