I'm a chronic car changer. 3-4 months is what they last for. Then its back on eBay or gumtree. MY wife goes crazy at me, it feels like I constantly have a log book at the DVLA. I'm I alone in this costly bad habit of hawking a car after only 3 months. Very rarely make money on my cars, but do break even mostly. Just love to sit in front of the pc and sorce out a car I have never owned. I'm on a Mazda xedos 9 now as a daily runner. After selling the TT. Will drive this for a couple of months and hawk it.

I used to be but I tend to keep them a lot longer now, sometimes as long as a year wink

I have got to the stage where I have owned around 55 cars in 24 years, some good and some bad smile

I just like a change generally and I like that feeling you get when a car is unfamiliar to you, like unexplored territory.

I have settled down a lot now and although I bought a brand new car a year ago and then px'd it just 8 months later, it was for good reason and I now have something a bit bland but fast and loaded with lots of kit - I'll be happy with that for some time I expect.

However, I still fancy a soft top again - just a cheapy and I'm thinking perhaps a wide bodied 2.8 Z3.

I quite fancy a bike too smile

What's your car history like? Have you been buying interesting cars or ones you can be passionate about? If not, then that might be your problem.

Once a year so far. Although thinking of selling the current E46 after 2 months now. Good car, just haven't really clicked with it. Bit boring really.

I've had a Cavalier since 2000. When I decided to buy a Honda accord Diesel, I had dealers asking me, if I had anything to PX, and they refused to accept that I was keeping the Cavalier "For the hell of it". I mean I've had it that long that it'd be a shame to not have it. Keeping it is costing £180 insurance, Whatever the Tax is ? £200+? and the MOT £40, plus a service £35 max plus any silly repairs. I'm looking at keeping an old friend for short trips with the dog to the beach (a mile or so) at a cost of about £1.50 a day.

I've had about 6 or 7 cars in the past two years, ended up buying a car on handy-back scheme to try and curb my addiction. I just love that unfamiliarity you get with a new car, be it used or brand new. I always have great memories from the time when I first pick a car up and getting to know it in the weeks afterwards.

Don't worry, I understand this totally smile The same reason we've kept our old Escort on the road. Peanuts to run but huge sentimental value (sounds silly really!) and faultlessly reliable, good on fuel etc. For the sake of a few hundred quid a year it just doesn't make sense to get rid smile

I'm the same, in 3 years of driving I've had 11 cars, not including bikes, the company vehicles and ones I've borrowed/rented.

However I like to think I've got a decent pair of vehicles now and want to settle on these - plus my newly acquired mortgage may make it difficult to justify the outlay in changing cars, insurance, plates etc.

I know someone who, in 1963, got a new Corvette Stingray from his dad for his 21st birthday. He's never changed it.

Also, when Jurgen Klinsmann was at Spurs, he drove an old Beetle his dad had bought him when he was 17. He was about 33 at the time. All the other players had Bentleys and Ferraris and Jurgen, their star player, had an old Beetle. Not sure if he still has it.

OMG... I am just the same although mine tend to last about 6 months at the most. However saying that my 330d touring has lasted almost a year.

Everyone at work is convinced I have lost loads on buying and selling cars until we did a comparison with a fellow colleague.

He brought a 320d for 19k, 2 years later he trades it in and only gets £11k for it. I on the other hand had brought roughly 5 cars in this time and on some turned a profit and on others lost a bit. All in all i was about £3k down over 2 years.

I find im more prone to change if someone i know has just changed their car... 5 mins later im on the trader site looking at potential new cars. Infact every friday we have a challenge to who can find the best bargain car for £15k

I've calmed down a lot of late, largely because with the LS and TVR I haven't got bored yet.

Why on god's earth would you want to own so many cars, all from the same manufacturer (group), and which are all so similar?

It's no wonder you get bored.

Try something with the engine in a diffeerent place, or with 6/8 cylinders, or with a different drivetrain, or longitudinally mounted, or from a different factory.....
