Hi, Can anyone help with the following problem. I've tried asking on the Ford Ka owners club forum but am getting no response. I bought my daughter a 2001 Ford Ka 1.3 Collection. It has standard central locking that works using a key in the door. There are no faults with this system & it all works ok. I decided to make life a bit easier for my daughter & decided to purchase a universal remote central locking upgrade kit & fit it to her car. See attached photo of kit I purchased from a well known auction site.
After installing the kit which I had no problems with all seemed to work ok. The car locked/unlocked using the remotes supplied. A few hours later when showing my daughter what to do I found the car did not appear to unlock although you could hear the central locking operating. After a bit of investigation & rechecking everything I’ve done I found that when unlocking the car using the remote the door lock opens & the recloses again. If you then press the lock button on the remote again then the unlock button once again the chances are it will open the second time.
It always locks fine using the remote but intermittently it will play up when trying to unlock the car. Sometimes it takes 3 – 4 attempts of locking unlocking the car using the remote to open the car. If I use the key there’s never a problem it opens & closes 1st time every time.
Has anyone ever fitted this type of kit or a similar kit & experienced similar problems. I’d be grateful for any advice as I know it’s not the end of the world but it’s just an annoying problem that keeps bugging me.

Hi,sorry for late reply. As mentioned i fitted this system to my daughters KA & unfortunately she's away from home at the moment. I can't remember the exact wiring colours but if its any help i mounted the control module & main loom down behind the carpet at the bottom of the drivers a-pillar. The central locking wires from the alarm module connect into the back of the circular multi plug that connects through to the drivers door. If you open the door then unscrew & detach the circular connector plug you can pull the plug back through the a pillar to the inside of the car & then attach the lock/unlock wires. Things like the battery feed & indicator or lighting circuits are found behind the steering column covers when removed. With these out of the way & use of a test light you should be able to find all the necessary feeds your looking for. I just soldered all the wires in place & then insulated them.
With regards to my original problem as listed at the start of this thread i've now sorted out the problem of it not unlocking properly. On the main remote control module there is a small bridge connector that can be swapped over to a different position. By swapping it across it reduces the amount of time voltage is applied to unlock the car & so prevents my original problem from occuring.
I hope this is of some help & when my daughter reappears with her car I'll try & update you as to what the lock/unlock wiring colours are if needed.

I have fitted 3 of these kits, on the later model the wiring diagram is wrong, the text for the third and second from bottom wires have dropped down (its a typo)

Ill see if I can find an old wiring diagram, once id figured it out it worked perfectly
