Morning People.

I picked up my 2007 RRS last night TDV8. I'm very impressed with the car but even more so with the POWER. Where does all the power come from. so much power and speed in such a heavy car?

That would be the 640 Nm of torque (472 lbs/ft).

I have the same engine but in the vogue, I have had it re mapped by JE engenering in Coventry. The differnce is signifcant, 800nm of torque! Worth looking into in my opinion.

3 litre Jag petrol engine is 209 lbs/ft
1.9 litre twin turbo diesel in my Saab is about 280 lbs/ft (180 bhp)

How does that affect the preformance? Also will it void the warranty?

Hi there
I too would be interested in knowing about the change in mapping.

Does it void warranty?
Is it an MOT failure once 3 years old?
Do you have to declare it to insurance? How much does it affect premiums?

Warranty is usually void.
Has to be declared on the insurance.
As long as it still meets the emissions, the MOT will be fine.

The main thing to worry about is the EGT.

Exactly... Before you start fiddling, I'd recommend a bit of research into some of the negatives, not just get taken in by the power increases!!

EGT = Exhaust Gas Temperature

To get extra oomph out of diesels, tuners usually increase the turbo boost and fueling. However, one of the downsides is that the temperature of the exhaust gasses increase. This extra temperature can cause problems such as burnt out valves and warped manifolds!!!
