Im curious.

Every morning, It takes a good mile before my windscreen is clear of mist/condensation, which is a bit dangerous driving towards low sun.

Ive tried all sorts, and am curious what methods people use.

It is rain-x'd on the outside, and I seem to need to use my wipers on intermittant until it clears, because the effect of rain-x seems to make the misting over worse.

If I keep the windows open, to keep the difference between inside and outside temp similar then I get cold and wet.

If I use hot air, it takes ages to warm up.

Cold air, has no effect on the misting.

What do you do?

Air conditioning clears it in about 10 seconds as the AirCon system dehumidifies the air.

Put my wipers on a slow setting, full blower, full heat at the windscreen. Job done.

Quickclear button. Unless it's below 0C then Quickclear comes on when I start the engine.

A electric fan heater on the passenger seat, lead out the door and into the electric car recharging socket (13amp plug), the socket is on a timer so 30 minutes before i leave the heater starts and warms the car up and defrosts the windscreen

Interior misting is caused by interior moisture. You can get bags of desiccant silica gel that sit on the dashboard, and these work miracles. Just google search "silica gel" and you will find some. The big bags for caravans and boats are particularly good.

Cheap alternative is cat litter in a sock on the dashboard.

OP's misting problem... are you talking about the inside, or out?

Heaters on full hot, and with aircon on (as said above, this dehumidifies the air) and wait for it to clear. Please don't drive if you can't see.

If you use rain-x you should also use their anti-fog product

Try polishing some washing up liquid into the windscreen . Might reduce the condensation .
As has been mentioned above it really does sound like something is leaking. Hope it is not the heater matrix.

Posh bds hehe

My MX5 leaks when it rains heavily so sometimes is slightly damp inside, plus when you open the door to get in the water leaks off of the roof onto the seat anyway!

I just sit in the car with the blowers on for a few minutes, usually works!

The misting is both inside and out.

On the inside, Yes I think there may have been soggy carpets once, They feel dry to the touch and have had a dehumidifier running for 24 hours which didn't seem to fill up. I also have a tub of moisture trap behind the drivers seat, which over the course of a few weeks has drawn some moisture out of the air / carpet., but I don’t know how much of this to attribute to general air moisture.

On the outside, Well I think it is the effect of condensation on a newly rain-x'd screen. but I seem to need to use the wipers more than on the other cars.

As for air-con. What do people use Hot/cold settings? As either don’t seem to make much difference.

And my understanding of warm air con, is that is still requires the engine to be hot to heat the air?

As for Quick Clear, I'd love it, but isn't it only Ford, Jaaaaag that have the patent to it?

Cat litter in a sock, Bit of rudimentary solution.

Aston Martin, Land Rover, Renault, Toyota, Subaru have them and there are a couple of options for aftermarket versions for pretty much any car you like.

For a csr like an MX5 that mists badly and additional electric fan works well. My old car had one hard wired i'n to the fan system, so it would blow warmish sir out the vents with the car clap cold and turned off.

I use the Air-Con, which if working correctly will clear the windows in seconds. Maybe your Air-Con isn't working correctly? I just keep the temp set as normal, not hot or cold and let the Air-Con remove the moisture from the air, which increases the speed which the windows de-mist. Also using recirculation might help if it's damp outside. That way, the air inside is dried out quicker than pulling in more damp air form the outside.
