Ok, my friend is wanting a track car, but something that he can drive to the track, he is saying that all the fastest track cars are EVos, i said no way, he said 700bhp EVos are unbeatable for lap times and hold all the track records, i said no way, a 600bhp Noble would surely do a faster lap than a 700bhp Evo on a race track?
Thing is they are opening the 2 mile long race track here in Cyprus, not very big, but all of a sudden lots of people are looking for track cars.
What do people think, those of you who race i'm sure you will have come up against some powerful Evos before, but i think i know the answer because there is a reason you have chosen Nobles, any vids of Nobles destroying Evos on racing tracks?

Can't help you on the video front but "depends" is the answer to your question. I've seen some serious metal being driven so poorly that lesser powered/sorted cars are keeping them more than honest. The disparity you see on trackdays is caused by driving skill rather than raw power/balance/grip etc in 99% of cases.
Also, if you're setting out to be the fastest thing on the track I'd say you might be missing the point (and spirit of trackdays in general) but that's another discussion

My friend wants to have the fastest car, be whatever it may, i.e. the car has has the most potential to do the fastest lap time if you were to give the cars to the same competant driver.
He has been going to some racing schools in germany, and now he wants a car that will lets say make the most of his skills, he has been looking at time attack cars and has convinced himself these will have the most potential for setting the fastest lap times, but i'm not so sure, because time attack is only for tuned street cars, it doesnt mean they are the fastest thing to go around the track. I.e. time attack at donnington fastest car was 1min 17, but yet a M600 did 1min 16.
So my point to him is just because the fastest time attack cars are Evo's it doesnt make them the fastest cars regarding lap time, only the fastest time attack cars, i am just thinking that a 600bhp Noble would have the potential to lap faster than a 700bhp EVO, but maybe i am wrong?

Ok I will add my thoughts..... I have both evo and noble, both get used on track and are pretty well set up / modified.
I would say my driving skills are average.
I am alot more committed in the evo than I ever will be in the noble.
When I had them both at Donnington on the same day, evo at 360 and noble at 400,my lap times were fairly similar tbh, the only difference was where I overtook other cars, so my point is.... for the average driver, IMO, the evo is easier to drive faster but in skilled hands the noble would be faster.... in the dry of course !

In the right hands (and dry, as others have said) the Nob will smack the Evo. Ye i showed him that vid but he is saying it does not relate to a 700bhp time attack car, what i really need is one of the big power boys or fast drivers to shed some light on their best lap times on certain tracks, i can then compare to the best lap time for a Time attack EVo on that track from Google.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZltgWIBcijY
Just stumbled into this thread.
R0162, i've driven the track, done an hours worth of time so far. It's very twisty and very technical, it's definitely NOT a power track. A 600hp RWD car would not be able to put down its power...
For reference these are some of the times already posted, the 4WD ones at the top are hillclimb racers with slicks and several hundred horsepower. The M3 CSL which is the fastest "street car" so far has a stock engine but is fitted with coilovers, big brake kit and semi slicks!

They've installed timing equipment last week i believe. Some of those times may have been recorded by onboard GPS receivers but i copied them from a thread by the track's manager on StreetracersCY.com so they should be legit.
I went to the track today to take my car around, its a nice track to drive, not a high speed track though as you said, 4th gear is redundant in my car, but they do not having the timing equipment installed yet, they were logging those times above by somebody on the starting line and somebody on the finish line with fancy stop watches.
We have been offered the track for 2 hours, 10 cars max, when we choose, 50 Euro each, we will definately arrange a day there Giannis, but i dont think i will be using the Noble, those legend kit cars are 8000 euros fully built and seem to be lots of fun, so i think i am going to get one of those, a few of my friends are buying the same so we can all race each other, i think it makes it more fun to all have the same car , same power etc.. and at the end of day nobody will be too worried about damaging them.

The Legend race cars sound fun! Bike engines i think. I'd do it properly and get a Caterham though. :P Myself, i'll stick with the M, it's got potential and i've got plenty of stuff to learn still.

I notice you were not cutting corners and nt pushing it, but yet you still did some laps under 1min 20, only rough though i just timed them from the video, i really need to find the driving line, d you have access to a map/layout of the track, i wuld like to post it on here and see if some of the experienced track drivers can sketch out what they think is the best driving line.
