The S bound A550 hill out of Hawarden, Flintshire is a favourite spot for these revenue generators. Locals have got wise to the van parked at the bottom of the hill.

The 30 limit is extends to the bottom of the hill well outside the built up area and it is sufficiently steep to need brakes to keep below 30.

This morning one of Beth's Micheson's finest was lurking in the car park unseen to people travelling S down the hill, zapping them as they passed.

Oh and Hawarden is not on the published 'Schedule' on Beth's website today or any other day this week.

Funny that, do you think this might be even a tiny bit about safety ?

Perhaps thats why a few enraged villagers have decided to prepare some signs to warn people next time they appear.

And if they do that they probably get prosecuted for warning of a speed trap .....

So they need to put the signs up and then leave them alone.

Or how about a sign saying:

Slow down, the camera partnership clearly considers this is an accident blackspot

I believe this area is called Tinkersdale and if anyone cares to ask the Arrive Alive PR person why the van is there when it apparently not on their list of targeted routes, Beth Micheson can be reached at:

E-mail Address(es): beth.mitcheson@arrivealive.org.uk.

Just curious of course. The usual response is "Operational reasons".

May we know what they are?

Richard,

Will you share Beth's response with us please?

Operational reasons, no doubt.

Some think the lists of targeted routes are designed to mislead. I have sometimes seen them trapping in Northop when they are not listed to be there.

Wow. The hill outside Hawarden.

That's where I got my first 3 points. There's a little field entrance by the derestriction sign towards the roundabout. Car was in there, plod behind the hedge with his gun.

I was 18 years old, doing 43mph. Pulled me over.

"Sorry to stop you sir. We've had complaints from local residents about speed limits being exceeded in this area".

Me: (genuinely) Residents? What residents? There's only fields around here".

Plod: "No need for that attitude sir. You were breaking the law, and endangering other motorists"

Me: (again genuinely) What other motorists? It's 7 o'clock in the bleeding morning. We've been here 5 minutes and no-one has passed us yet".

ahhh. The memories.

From the Arrive Alive website...:

qt
Finally, it’s not about raising revenue, it’s about saving lives. Careful drivers who adhere to the speed limits will not fund the scheme; those who are caught exceeding the speed limit will not be stopped, but will be notified by post. All monies raised from the campaign can only go to fund additional cameras; members of the partnership cannot use it for any other purpose other than the Arrive Alive safety camera campaign.
unqt

My favourite part has to be "All monies raised from the campaign can only go to fund additional cameras"

Excellent
