I bought an 147 GTA a couple of months ago and up to now I have been seriously impressed with the car.

However whilst driving along today the little yellow engine icon lit up with the narrative "motor control system failure", should I be worried? Unfortunately I don't have the owners handbook for the car so I'm unable to check it out.

Has anybody got any idea as to what it might be? If so, is it serious or an easy fix?

Any help would be appreciated.

It could be a variety of things, so I'd get it to an Alfa specialist and get it hooked up to diagmostics and find out exactly what it is. When mine came on it was a faulty lambda sensor and the warning was triggered as my emmisions were higher than they should have been.

Biggest collection of GTA owners are on www.alfaowner.com in the GTA lounge smile

You need to get the fault codes read, could be anything.

I agree with the above, when mine came on it was a Lambda sensor that was playing up.

Get it checked, but it is probably only a sensor playing up.

Mine did it and it turned out that the thermostat was knacked. On cold mornings it doesn't get up to temperature very quickly and after a while the ecu decides that there must a fault and throws out the failure warning and puts the fans on full.

Our 156 GTA (which is slightly different) was a couple of coil packs: without getting the codes read, it's a bit of a lottery I'm afraid.
