The fact that people in your age range are now looking to buy into Jag is very telling of the quality of their current range. I've had a 4.2 XKR since 2007 got it at 33 years old, absolutely brilliant, i wouldn't hesitate to buy an XFR.

Points taken on board. The xfr was very good to drive. But needs a sports exhaust to bring it alive. Very very muted! I am a bit worried about residuals though as most people I speak to are telling me to stay well clear

We have a number of XFs at work. They recieved great reviews when they arrived. Unfortunately, they have proved woefully unreliable. New engines, new turbos, mysterious electrical faults. One car has been off the road for over 50% of the time we've had it. (These are diesels by the way)

The BMWs just go on and on.

Not always.

I had a year with an E46 328ci.

New sun roof motor
New diff
New clutch at 30k miles because of judder
Chassis repair where the rear subfrname mounts
New throttle cable
New Intake butterfly
New front speakers
various rattles

All under warranty (about £5.5k). But what a donkey!

I can only speak for the 530ds we have at work. Some are coming up to 200'000 miles, have led a very hard life, but have only had routine servicing.
