Is this stuff any good at stopping the car steaming up?

Any downsides? (glare at nightime for example?)

Hi, yes I've used this before on the Triumph, a car that steams up VERY easily. (Leaky British car=condensation!) Seemed to work very well, need to re apply every few weeks, but the car, like I say, would steam up very easily. I didn't notice any glare at night, but you will have to buff it properly. Think of it like polishing a car, one cloth to buff on, one to buff off.

Also a word of warning, the stuff does squirt out quite easily if you aren't expecting it, and try not to get it onto interior plastics.

Hope this helps

I used it in a Punto that used to steam up. Works well, but after a couple of weeks it needs to be reapplied, otherwise the window becomes quite hazy and difficult to see out of. Other than that it's good. I've used it on the inside of a motorcycle helmet as well. Good stuff.

They certainly used to be, but I can't find any reference to Rain-X or their parent company ITW Global Brands on Brake's website any more. Perhaps the negative reception their sponsorship of Brake gave them made them have second thoughts. We can but hope.

If they really are no longer sponsoring Brake then I'd be prepared to buy their products again, otherwise I remain ooot.

Aye, good stuff, although the Halfords own brand version works too.

Cheers,

Fairy Liquid works well too.

Use it on the windscreen in my corrado. Now seem to get condensation on the outside! tongue out

Don't know if its just my bottle but how it comes out is awfull.
Tip it up and nothing comes out and a very gentle squeeze projects it outwards in an arc (rather than than a straight stream onto the cloth) and covers everything so be carefull as if in contact with plastic isnt good.

I had a look at the brake website (had a picture of a kid standing in the middle of a road, seemed a bit irresponsible) and judging by the amount of financial contributors, it'd take a lot more than not using rain-x to demonstrate ones displeasure.
To be fair to them, they seem to offer support to victims of road accidents which is commendable, but I can't agree with a great deal of what they have to say.

Anyway, back to condensation.
I used to have a moisture trap in the rear footwell of the old car which made a bit of a difference, however when I sold it I found a big puddle in the spare wheel well, I suspected a leaking roof aerial gasket or blocked sunroof channels.
Might be worth checking for leaks & trapped rainwater?
