I was chatting to a chap in work today about these cars. I have had one, and completely loved it.

To those who don't know it, the car was the last Prelude to be built by Honda, a 2+2 Coupe really.

The best engine was the H22 (The A5 or A8, although lower spec engines were available) , available in the earlier cars with 185bhp as a manual or a sublime (albeit problematic in later life) Tiptronic box. The layer models had just under 200bhp.

The top spec models came with air con, cruise, electric windows and a fantastic 4-Wheel-Steer system which gave what was a larger car very very good handling characteristics.

IMO, The car was fantastic looking too. Mine was a Motegi Edition, which had sideskirts, front and rear lips and a bonnet spoiler. A stunning looking car.

Most people wouldn't know what it was if they saw one, just wondering what the PH thoughts are on this car??

I had one in metallic blue that otherwise looked identical to the one in the pic. It was a 2.2 VTI with the cruise and 4 wheel steering. Absolutely loved it!! Great car in its day.

Why does it have handles at the bottom of the windscreen?

Owned on a few years back.

2.0l 16v sport. Was a fantastic car. Pulled well enough (140hp), handled great and was a lovely looker.

Would have another in a heartbeat if I didn't need at least a hatch.

Optional bonnet spoiler. I was told it helped with stability at high speed.

I just think it looked cool hehe

I understand about practicality, when I went on holiday I invested in this..

I'd have another in a heartbeat...

Fair enough, I very much doubt that they do anything though. hehe

Was the mk5 still as reverse tardis-like as the previous generation? I never understood how they managed to get so little interior space in such a big car. The steering on the mk4 was awful too, quite a nice car otherwise though.

The space inside is ridiculous :laugh.

I had two Gen3 4ws models, did a combined 100k miles in them both, brilliant little motors if not quite as sporty as they made out.

My ma had a 2.2Vti, and while it was a nice machine it felt very soft compared to the ITR I had at the time. The 4ws kept tripping out too, as it was the later electronic version. I much preferred the mechanical version I had previously smile

Mate of mine has one. He had the previous shape VTEC (yo) one before and reckons it was a much better car.

edited to add - nice to see there are no chavs on here that refer to them as 'ludes' smile
