Currently reading-up on the Chimaera and possibly Cerbera (these seem thin on the ground in my price bracket though)....anything else to consider?

This will be a weekend Toy, something to tinker with at home....creature comforts not essential wink

Edit: I'm now looking at V8s only ears

Elise?

I've had a couple of Chimaeras...lovely cars, but pretty basic/agrictural if I'm honest!

Cobra replica?

Might need a small budget stretch for a V8, but I reckon it'd be worth it.

You like the 'blade engine?

Something like this might fit the bill (certainly no creature comforts!)
http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/3132385.htm

(there was another one, similar spec but no cage sold privately via PH for ~8k, so may be room to haggle)

I'm thinking more "V8" than "V-TEC yo" but thanks anyway for the suggestion.

Currently seeking inspiration on CarandClassic.co.uk classifieds.

Can you get an RV8 for that money? You can definitely get a V8 MGB. Not remotely modern but loads of fun, noise and eligible for classic insurance, good club support/events and good to work on if you're handy.

Admittedly not V8 powered, but I'd also look at MGC's too... very underrated.

Like the look of these two:

I have one of these but i'd suggest it's not quite exciting enough for a weekend car.

Marcos
Westfield SEight
Z3M Roadsters have great engines but not much else to write home about.

But I reckon your first choice of the Chimera has a lot going for it.

Would you consider a kit car, Westfield/Mac#1/MK Indy/MNR etc? light weight, nimble, decent power, no driver aids, just pure fun biggrin

Yeah in Chimaera or Griff form.

Chimaera- Great fun had one for years loved it.
Cerbera- Have one now for 10k it can be done as well but they do eat cash
Elise- I would look at these as well.
