Considering a Westfield SEIW for a season of hill climbing. Got to travel to see cars but can lanky blokes with big feet fit into them or is it lost cause?

A friend of mine has a pre-lit Westfield (narrow body), he has similar sized feet and manages ok with the pedals, the problem he finds is the steering wheel is far to close to his legs/knees, it's the only Westfield we've seen so can't say if it's normal or not.

There is far more room inside my Mac#1 Worx or another friends MK Indy.

you will fit fine in a wide body with floor mounted pedals.

When I first met Chris Smith years ago I was seriously overweight (25stone+) and at the time he was building only the narrow body cars. He told me I would not fit he was right.

However in time (30 years) I lost weight (to 15 stone) and Westfield brought out the wide body cars. I can easily (well sort of) get into these cars although getting out is a bit of a challenge.

You will fit the latest wide body.

Enjoy the experience.

Very similar size to you and reckon you'd probably fit with top mounted pedals too. Westies always feel more roomy down there than a caterham and, if you need to, you can remove a bit of the interior trim to give ~1/2 extra. Race boots make a difference too...

What you may need to look at though for competition is roll bar height, cage, and/or lowering the floor.

WSCC is pretty friendly, so why not nip down to local meet and see if someone will let you sit in one?

I have an SEIW with the latest Turbo seats and my 6 ft 2 inch broad beam and size 10 feet (with narrow shoes) fit in the car fine. The latest cars have a lowered floor so even with the wet gear on there is plenty of head room, and there is no longer a foot rest cut into the tunnel but my left foot fits underneath the floor mounted pedals no problem. I have also fitted a flat bottomed 290cm MOMO wheel which also helps with leg room and it is quick realease, but I can still get in and out easily leaving it in place with the wet gear off.

Where in the South West are you? If near Swindon you are welcome to see if you fit in mine.

With my size 11s and my sylva striker I find wearing race boots helps no end with space in the footwell.

If I had boots or trainers on then I just become tangled up in the peddles, pair of sparcos and all is well.

I think you have your answer from the rest of the replies but just to add mine, I am 6'3" and 16 1/2st with size 13 feet and I fit in nicely to my 96 wide body. My pedals are top mounted and they did take a while to get used to them (I could probably just about press all 3 with one foot if I tried!) but everything is good now. Non servo brakes take a bit of getting used to as well! I did add a removeable steering wheel which was worth it. Either way, I am sure you will cope well. Good luck.

this was my problem in the chaterham cars that palmer sports had, feet room was fine and im sure with more time and some mods to a car if it was my own i could get comfey. chaterhams are smaller than the westi's though.

6'4", size 11
