Industrial Placement help please.

Hi everyone,

I am a 2nd year Motorsport Engineering student from UCLan who is looking for a 12 month industrial placement preferably in a race team, engine builder or chassis manufacturer etc. I was hoping that anyone here could offer me some advice on companies that offer this facility.

Best thing you can do is just keep on emailing or phoning the people that you would like to work for. Do lots of research into them, show your interest, but make sure you keep on at them!!

Off the top of my head, mercedes Benz HPE are right up your street, are you willing to travel? Are you looking for something motorsport specific or would you be happy to do something OEM based.

Don't be too focussed on motorsport; a good placement at someone like Jaguar Land Rover will be far more respected than a bad placement where you are treated as the tea boy at a tiny little motorsport team.

Mercedes HPE is on my list when the application process opens. We had a talk off some of the lads who were there last year from UCLan and it sounded perfect. I'm halfway through the JLR application since it's so long and detailed. I have a long list of companies but most don't seem to offer placements from what I've seen so far. Going to try the BTCC teams this week.
