But please leave it as it is, standard low mileage cars like this are thin on the ground and i feel changing the lights etc wuld ruin it

The fronts are, yes but the phase 2 rear lights have different wiring.

I've converted a set of lights on an early 205 - you end up cutting the loom that runs from one side to another

whilst you can change it back I'd stick with the originals

in any case - lovely car, exactly the same as my first 1.9
