I've only been on this forum for a short while, but the banter between the local BiB and other PH'ers seems very constructive between us.
Following this along, if it it could be organised, and if there was enough interest, would anybody like to see some sort of charity race day held on a private track where we could all get our heads together. Imagine being chased round a track, by the old bill, knowing full well that if you got caught you're not going to end up sewing mailsacks for a while. Alternatively, would the opportunity to sit with trafpol as co-pilot appeal?. It would certainly be an opportunity for some positive publicity for the groups taking part, and I imagine quite a larf as well.
Anyone else have any thoughts about this ?

Health and Safety nightmare....

Although I'm sure it would be a giggle....The management of every 43 of the police forces wouldn't go for it....Not in a million years...

Which is the time it would take to pay off all the compensation to any injured drivers..

Personally, I think it sounds like a great idea.

Unfortunately, I'm a very small cog (metaphorically speaking, of course) in a very big machine, and would have to agree with StreetCop!

If you can manage to organise anything, I'd be up for it - although I'm sure track driving is a little bit different to response driving...

How to outrun a Copper? A brisk walk and you'd outpace me...

Nice one dibble

To be honest, after seeing Avon & Zummersets Bike cops on wet slimy roads, most of us wouldn't stand a chance. You'd be picking us out of the cat litter all day. Still with the right blokes, I'm sure it could be a productive day. Maybe with it aimed at better roadcraft, rather than a balls out hair on fire hoon. I'll have to make some enquiries (no pun intended)......however we would absolutely insist you leave 99 at home!!.

I think it would be hideously dangerous to have people effectively racing, without proper controls, training and safety measures that you get at a race. But it would be *very* interesting to see some how the two groups of driver stack up at a sprint competition. I have met some exceptionally good sprint drivers over the years, but interestingly the person I would rate as the fastest driver I know also happens to be a cop.

At the Great Yarmouth cruise the police were racing the cruisers round cones and stuff on a time trial basis. Wasn't really fair as the cops had an Elise!

I'm still sniggering here

I suppose what I meant was, if it looks like someone is going to be a complete knob on track, and hurt themselves it would tarnish the day.............................I've just read what I'd written, and it occured to me I might be the knob!!! What the hell, let me sign the disclaimer.

What we need here is a couple of Jam Sandwhich decorated V8 SD-1's to use as the pursuit cars

And Real serving traf pol to drive them (on their own time and insurance of course....)

If people are genuinely interested they I did go some way down the line to sorting something very similar, give me a show of hands & I can take it further.

I have a venue !

And I know a few Trafol's who'd be up for something like this.

Hows a about a Dual Slalom, plod v punter seperate courses of course but side by side. Or guess the corner exit speed assisted by Mr plod with his lasergun type thing.

I;m sure a bit of fun/banter would be good for all of us.

We could maybe do LeMans stylie starts but I think this might show us just how unfit we all are sitting behind a PC's all day on PH. Might give you plods a chance

I'm right up for this, and have a load of mates who would be as well.
Suggestions as to a venue?

The Conedodgers drifty land at Andover is available, its 600 x 600 yards of luverly smooth tarmac. We'd need to cover venue & insurance costs even if it was for charity (I've asked the landowners already) but thats nothing too major.

So suggestions for a date & some more ideas I suppose. Hows about one of those cops & robbers escape days. I'm sure I could also arrange a visit from Mr Military with one of them Apache's that keep hovering about the place when were there.

I do like the idea of a LeMans start, me thinks the bib lads could outrun most of us on foot at least.

...why.. is the starting gun going to be a shout of:

A) "..canteens about to close"

or

B) "Free Donuts"

The more venues, the easier it would be to get people there. Living in Dear old Deb'n, I'd have to travel anyway, but if we had somewhere central, maybe with camping, we could turn the doughnut stand into a barbie later.
