E63 AMG 2006 question

Morning All, I am relatively new to AMG ownership (June this year) having moved on from a 996 C4S. Love the car but want to understand what if anything can be done to make the 2006 model sound like the current C63 and E63 models. They are far more vocal in V8 noise compared with my 2006 model. don't get me wrong the performance is not in question but the feedback from the V8 is nowhere near the sound of the newer model or current C63.

I would welcome any suggestions (sensible) from the wider far more knowledgeable audience here.

Is it the exhaust that is too quiet?

A number of Merc V8 owners and AMG owners do away with the secondary CATS. On some models you can also do away with the secondary silencers. Maybe ask over on mbclub.co.uk and you might find someone who has done it.

C63s come with an optional performance pack which makes the exhaust loud (I am tempted to say too loud for frequent use) so this may be what you are comparing to.

I've also often wondered why the later 2009 e63 sounds better compared to the earlier model (it sounds incredible!), I'm guessing its due to slight exhaust differences

for most amg'd cars there are 2 sets of cats and silencers, you can replace the secondary silencers by replacing with straight pipes. If you want a very loud sound then you can remove the secondary silencers and also secondary cats and replace with a custom X pipe (this will make much more sense once you've seen the exhaust with car on a ramp).

just removing the secondary silencers should be more than enough and can be done at a reputable exhaust specialist for relatively little money so that would be my advice
