rear clip re-design
Discussion
Hi all
1st up I don't have a Noble, but I'd like one
Some of you may know me from else where on Pistonheads but I'm new to the Noble world
Where I live, I can't have one as you can't import a car that is older than 1 year old.
But hardly anyone can drive out here anyhow and there is nowhere to go.
I've had a Ultima, Westfield, Caterham and the Noble ticks the box for the next car.
I've just been looking at a Zonda parked up at one of the Casino's (I said they can't drive not they don't have them) and the rear of the car extends quite a way back past the rear wheels, the R even more so.

I love the shape of the Noble but I was wondering if anyone has played with a different shape to the back of the car, a bit like a long tail version Mclaren did.
I guess you would be limited by the intercooler.
Thoughts, drawings?

yes, it has been done, one guy in the USA did a cool clam mod but not to my taste, i have also been thinking about this for some time and have worked out ways it can be done to make the car longer and sleeker looking, the rear clip is easily modified, the intercooler can stay where it is but i imagine moving this back aswell would be beneficial.
If its just for looks then the rear clam can be easily modified in my opinion while still picking up on the existing frame, it would also give more room for a good centre exit exhaust system.
The rear clam at the moment literally stops just behind the rear wheels, i think this overhang can be extented to create the look you are after.
But if you want to go the whole hog then there is a company in the UK called Jetstream motorsport, who have created what is in my opinion the ultimate Noble modification, the car is wider and longer, the engine has been turned 90deg and linked to a grazziano transmission, i cant list all the works because basically everything has been changed, the bodywork is all custom made, unfortunately they have not posted any pics recently.
There is another guy on here "Andy" who has built a V12 twin turbo from scratch, and i think if i find the pics you will see the rear end look you are after.

Here is a link to some of the pics of his V12 racing car, would not quite look the same with the Noble, but similar with regards to rear end overhang, exhaust apertures, spoiler, the diffuser and lighting units etc..
