Hello , and apologies but am after some advice of what type of 'sport' 4x4 to consider, must be able to do 40mpg+ and be under £15K. Now am thinking of a Honda CRV, any other suggestions? (X5?)

Thanks

Lee

And in which universe are you living to expect a "sport type" 4x4 to be able to do 40+ mpg?

BMW X3 2.0d - Might get 40MPG at a push? I think they may also have doen a 1.8D.

Best I can come up with. Don't rate them though personally, terrible ride, ugly and not very well screwed together.

Do you mean Sports – SUV.
I don't think you'll find any SUV style 4x4 that'll do that MPG.
An older Q7 might come close – if you can find one for that money.
A Volvo XC60 or 90.
Rav 4, Vitara?

I presume you mean the former because you mentions CRV – however, if you mean sportcar.
Look at Subarus or maybe an older Audi ????? quatro.

Ford Kuga?

It's in your price range and could manage 40mpg at a push.

True, but a 2.0 diesel X3 is hardly sporty (even by SUV standards) smile

Like I said, best I could come up with and sportier than a CRV FFS.

Ok, should have made myself clearer, I mean an SUV type, not a 'real' off roader such as a range rover.

The 3.0SD is better but ours averages 29-30mpg and would just about top 35mpg on a run.

My mate just got a 2.0TDI Q5 expecting to see 45mpg+ and so far he reports it's doing 35mpg on runs, it has yet to run in though... but just to put things in perspective...

Bit of a left field choice, but how about a Vauxhall Antera? No idea if it's any good, but it looks nice inside and out imo.

Honda CR-V is probably a better vehicle in every quantifiable way though.

There's also all manner of Jeeps to consider (Patriot, Compass, Cherokee), but again, I have no idea if they're any good/ to your liking.
