front wheel catching on throttle cable

Had my geo done recently with machined uprights and repositioning of throttle cable.
Unfortunately on full steering lock the tyres are catching the inner well and pulling at the throttle cable.
Had a scary moment where the throttle stuck fully open while I was trying to get out of a tight space!!
I've got standard wheels and tyres.
Is there something I can adjust easily enough to sort this one ?

My cable was in the std place and it was catching badly... however my issue was because I have 9inch fronts rather than wider tyres, The solution was 5mm spacers at the front.
the geometry change moves the wheel inwards at the top of the tyre hence it can become an issue when 235's and geo is done.
I banged mine off the 8000rpm limiter getting off of Tuxmans drive... think he thought I was going to put 2 black lines down his road lol

My cable isn't even run along the bottom of the footwell panel, I think it runs through the tunnel?
Hi Rob , the STD position down the tunnel can be a problem because the heat melts the outer casing and causes the throttle to stick ,mine did it on the rolling road last year a factory upgrade was to re-route the cable down the drivers side cill . Tux Lucozade said:

Craig, FYI the throttle cable outer plastic cover will melt at the section over the forward turbo - not the part that passes through the tunnel.1. Don't move the cable - heat melts the cable causing throttle to stick

It has nothing to do with tyre size, even if you have 285's at the front the tyre would catch the splash guard before touching the cable if it is routed properly, because the centre of the wheel is much higher up than the cable. Here is a pic of how it should be routed and note the spot where my 235 tyres rub the splash guard on full lock, i made a mistake putting 235's on.


I run 235's and have the cable mod and have no such issues.I have however had the lock stops increased so that the tyres do not rub on the inner splash guard hence no chance of the tyre making contact with the cable. Only downside is that the usual 11 point turn is now a 17 point turn !

sorry chris thats were my cable is and it absolutelly can catch there as mine did, what you are doing is only looking at the static possition rather than it going up and down... mine caught when the wheel dropped as I turned off of a kurb .... your wheel 'just' catches, mine left lines up and down the arch of around 150mm after the geo mod and wider tyres.
a 5mm spacer moved that point of the tyre that touches the arch by nearly 20mm so I now just clear and it doesn't ever catch! when you start moving the angle of the upright (which is what the goe mod does) then it has a large impact of the turn points of the wheel.
I think in this instance a 2-5mm spacer will cure it.. this still leaves the wheel being located correctly on the hub on my car
Ok i guess there are exceptional circumstances, i can understand how it could happen on full lock dropping off a kerb, but i gathered Craig is talking about full lock pulling out of a parking space when it caught.
I also have the uprights machined and have set 1.5 deg neg camber for road use, hopefully when Craig sees the picture he may spot a slight fault with the routing, if not then i guess the easy fix is to route the cable underneath where it would catch.
