Chaps,

I'm going to Cambridge tomorrow, and am meeting someone at the roundabout where East Road meets Newmarket Road (A603 and A1134 respectively) at lunchtime.

I'm going to drive there, but know nothing about the city. Where would be a good idea to leave the car? I'm not averse at all to leaving the car somewhere a little distance away where it is free (possibly in a residential area) and walking to the meeting point. Can any local PH'ers suggest a suitable location?

Thanks for any help.

Oh how I laughed at this! Cambridge is the town that wanted to implement a congestion charging zone that was the whole of the city, including the out of town science parks and park and ride carparks.

Park here : http://www.graftoncentre.co.uk/directions.aspx (the east or west car park will be fine).

Do not risk resident only or similar parking, Cambridge has loads of Traffic Wardens, they know all the 'best' places and will get you.

Opps, if you want free, use http://www.beehivecentre.co.uk/centre_information/... it's pretty close to your meeting.

There is a car park on new road behind the crown court which is £5 per day, at the martial arts gym. Not free and gets full very early, but very close to where you want to be.

Chaps,

Thanks. Beehive looks like a possibility, thanks for the suggestion Mr Photog.

I'm quite happy with a 20 minute walk, as it is ... all other suggestions welcome, thanks.

Its true, they're a horrible bunch at the council. Owning a low ish car in cambridge is impossible too, I can't take the GT3 anywhere in town at all.

Chaps,

Many thanks for the suggestions. The Beehive Centre did the trick well.

(And I overstayed the 3 hour limit by about 15 minutes ... so will await nasty surprises in the post!)

Thanks for your help. (Oh, and for reference threesixty, I thought the roads were pretty good in Cambridge. Come and have a drive 'round London if you want to experience bad ... frown )

did you walk down the "back passage" near the furniture store?

Odd Q!

No. Looked at it but decided I wasn't sure whether it went the way I wanted to go, and walked back around the road.

Why?
