I do the shopping in our house as if the OH was to then our bill would increase 3 fold with all the extra flowers, chocolate and DVDS--that we just have to have!!
Anyways I shopped in Morrisons yesterday and was pleasntly suprised. I found them cheaper than Tesco for alot of items and the quality seems much better.
I do all my veg shopping in a local farm shop as once again better quality and prices.
Where do yo go?

Waitrose. The quality is great and not too badly priced if you buy essentials.

Asda is deeply unenjoyable, and our local Morrisons is small and has limited choice. Sainsbury's is fine, Tescos too expensive for the poor quality products.

Waitrose, doesn't everyone? How dreadfully common to shop anywhere else, unless one is in London when ones goes to Harrods.

Am I the only person who's only criteria in their choice of supermarket is it location?

There is a Tesco on the way home from work and I shop there for the weekly shop. If I just need a pint of milk I stop at the small local Co-op as it has parking outside. If I need a couple of items when at home then there is a Lidl within walking distance, which as it doesn't have a carpark actually has a very low chav quotient as they are too lazy to walk with their shopping....

Veg from the farm, meat from the butcher or Makro, then all the other bits and bobs are sourced from either makro or Sainsburys normally.

That's my view too. They may have been an ecky-thump low budget operation once, but they've raised their game (view of John Cleese there!) and IMHO fit above Tesco. Myabe it's just the branch I go to but there's something of a helpful, family atmosphere and not corporate.

We have a Morrisons about 5 min walk from our house and an Asda Walmart about 5 miles down the road so we do our shop in those. Morrisons does nice meat, seems to be of good quality and not a bad price, especially if you get the offers. Fruit and veg and fresh bread is pretty good too. Asda seems pretty unbeatable for overall price though, especially for brand name products. I hate Asda on a Saturday, avoid it like the plague.

I do, however, having a 30% discount card makes it cheaper than Sainsbury's biggrin

No - we sort of do this. We shop at Sainsbury's as where we live its the quetist of the three supermarkets on a Monday evening when we do a shop. For the bits in between a big shop its wither the Aldi down the road or Tesco around the corner from work.

Always make a special trip to the butchers on a Saturday morming though!

I do all our shopping online, Morrisons don't have the facility for us to do that, and neither did Sainsburys for some time, so it has been Tesco for the last few years and I don't really want to swap now.

Not unless you have a Sainsbury's staff discount card it isn't. wink

Plus if you time big purchases correctly and get the staff discount on top of an existing offer then it makes for some serious discount. Last killing we made was on a Wii, and no I'm not referring to Call of Duty either.

But you have to do your research and know your market prices, as always, plus for some items, TVs being a prime example, the exact model numbers.

I shop in Tesco because I get 10 percent off, also there isn't a Sainsburys, Asda or Morrisons in the town.

Sainsbury's usually although I'd consider Tesco's if there was one within eleventy billion miles of my house. Waitrose has a good selection of ales and wine and is the only place I know that sells Welsh cakes around these parts, so pop in there occasionally to stock up on cakes and booze. drink

They are, however, heinously expensive for a "big shop".

I usually shop in Sainsburys because it's the nearest - and if I'm going past there I might as well stop in and pick up various bits and pieces. If I'm going into town than I'll look in at Tesco perhaps ( I do a check on-line if they've got anything worthwhile on offer)visit Lidl as I like some of there stuff ( hot dog sausages in a jar being the main one).
We haven't got an Asda or Waitrose, there's an Aldi and a co-op but a bit too far away from town and would have to be a destination shop as opposed to being en route to elsewhere.
