The electric handbrake was useless on the cars I drove, and the clutch on the manual cars was a pain in the arse (you get used to it though). Other than that they aren't bad cars. wink

My Grandad has one, the Auto.

Plenty of go, great cruiser.

Don't know about long term reliabilty yet as he's only had his a few months.

Mine's 4 weeks old and has covered 1800 miles.

Electronic handbrake is a torture.

Comfort is non existant. Do not buy one of these if you're after a comfortable ride. It would give you a bad back, especially with the 20" rims.

Nice enough to look at. Mine's Olympic white. Interior in the SRI is a nice enough place to be.

Not sure if I would recommend it overall. I just wish I had test drove one with the bigger wheels before committing to buy.

I've had quite a few as hire cars. I particularly like the SRi trim with auto box. Still gets about 40MPG even with me driving and I love the cabin, so much interesting than the equivalent Mondeo and I find the heater controls much more flexible and the readouts much easier to read.
The handbrake is not ideal, but I've always found them to work well, and at least YOU can decide when to turn it off (push the button down); I had a Pug 3008 that had no feature other than pulling away that let the handbrake off.
I liked the way Drive was at the bottom of the shifter, so it's start, selector all the way down, gas and off you go.
On the manuals I though the change was particularly smooth, although there is a design issue where if you have your fingers round the front of the stick when you go from reverse to neutral it can bite your finger!

looked at Insignia and Mondeo (Company Car) and was on the verge of going for an Insignia Elite with the 160 CDTI.

A mate took delivery of his before I put my order in and as a result I went for a Mondeo Titanium with the new(ish) 163bhp diesel (and was able to get the Satnav thrown in). Glad I did - whilst not PH, the Mondeo has a lot more life about it than the Insignia.

Showing my age I even went for 17 inch wheels to get a more comfortable ride - not sure why anyone would want 19s on this type of car.

Was thinking of a red vx-line with the 20 inch rims but if they will make the ride pants I may look elsewhere.

Shame that vauxhall have failed on the ride and comfort as the that was one of the plus points of all the previous vectras, especially at motorway speeds.

It's actually shocking. Very very stiff, but as I said the wheels could make all the difference. I doubt it though.

20" wheels are never going to do the ride any good. I had a rental with 18s and the ride was fine. Did a 900 mile round trip in a weekend and it was economical and reasonably powerful with 4 up and camping kit. Pleasantly surprising and not bad looking-ish.
