Lovely looking car, the S5.

Out of interest, as it always seems to be the usual question when discussing them - why not an RS4?

I looked at the RS4 but felt it was a little "old" now compared to the "MMI and LED" running Audi's, don't get me wrong an excellent car but I compromised the capabilities by going with the "next gen" of Audi if you like. I currently have a B7 A4 DIEsel Sline aswell so wasn't reliant on the practicality.

Thanks for the comments

Love the S5, It's looking likely to be my next car purchase....

....As a comparison the an 07 RS4 with say 50k on the clock compared to an equivalent age/milage S5 is about 5-6k cheaper...for me it's a no brainer.

Enjoy the noise smile

No chance, they aren't comparable.

My thoughts exactly.

I would compare a RS5 with a BMW M3, just not a S5. smile

I love these, although the biggest one of my biggest motoring disapointments in the last few years was when these (and the S4) went back from a V8 to a V6 TT.... frown

Its a lovely car, but you chose it over an RS4 because of the DRLs? It's the only thing I dislike about new Audi models.

I absolutly love these but at 25 years old and min £20k its a stretch at the moment.

Get an Exhaust
Get and Intake
Get it remapped

Should see some great figures and that thing will set the road on fire.

Badged V6T, but it's Supercharged. smile

I get the comments on the S5 vs RS4, a friends Uncle went from an S5 to an RS4, definitely felt like a step backwards in some respects; Interior styling, integrated systems (MMI, Nav, Bluetooth etc) however the 'specialness' and performance/handling even it out again. Never drove the S5, but the RS4 cloud9

Good to see you've picked one with the correct wheels OP! Love those, is it a 6MT or Tiptronic? Definitely echo the Miltek comments!!

I'm hearing the RS4 v S5 noises but I wanted a spec'd up car and I wasn't going to get a RS4 with that level of kit, I recognise I scarificed a more involving/exciting car but it was a trade off I was willing to make, everyone has different priorities when car buying, mine was finding the balance between spec and driver experience.

It's 6 speed manual, I have considered the mods and I think I've spent enough to where I am at the moment especially as the other half will be using it mostly when our bundle of joy arrives early next year.

Maybe a new set of rear LED light but that's probably it....until I get bored smile

Remember seeing 3 of these in Audi Drivers mag.Think they all got wheel spacers, full milltek system and remap.

Is it any good in corners or just in a straight line?

I find the Audi trade mark of little feedback from the steering is still there and even though they have moved the front axle to stop it feeling nose heavy, it has worked but isn't 100%. Although overall IMO it handles well and is more than capable.

Again if you want more feedback and a even better handling car then the M3 is your choice but this car isn't meant to compete with that.
